Parent Arrested After Child Left in Hot Car

Just before 5pm on Thursday Boise Police, Boise Fire and Ada County Paramedics responded to a report of a child locked in a vehicle on the 6700 block of State Street.

A concerned citizen said they had tried to find the child’s parents and were unable to.

Upon arrival, Boise Fire Firefighters determined that the child was in distress and broke a window of the vehicle to remove the child.

The victim, a 3-year-old girl, was treated by Ada County Paramedics for heat related distress. Using a thermal imager fire firefighters determine the temperature in the vehicle to be over 120 degrees. It’s estimated the child was in the car for about 15 minutes.

Christopher Leis of Boise was arrested on the charge of (felony) Injury to Child. He was booked into the Ada County Jail.
