AAA Idaho: 43 Million Americans Will Travel Over Memorial Day Weekend

Boise (670 KBOI News) – So…are you planning a family trip to Disney for Memorial Day? Maybe you and the spouse are headed to Vegas for some fun on the Strip? If so, you’re not alone.

Triple-A Idaho’s Matthew Conde says 43-million Americans are planning to head out on vacation over the holiday weekend, because after years of a down economy, Americans are ready to travel.

“The economy is fairly robust, the employment levels are doing so well, we’re at the lowest level in 50 years,” said Conde.  “That situation, of course, is unprecedented in most people’s lifetimes.  With that extra spending money comes a desire to travel.”

Despite higher gas prices, most people will drive, which means clogged roads, and roadside breakdowns.

Conde says have your car checked out before you leave home, and check 511.idaho.gov for road conditions.
