AMBER ALERT UPDATE: Child Located and is Safe

***UPDATE

The child has been located safely along with the vehicle.

An AMBER Alert has been issued for a 7-year-old Montana boy who police believe may be in danger.

Tyran Campen was last seen in the town of De Borgia, Montana, which is northwest of Missoula. The AMBER Alert is active in Kootenai, Shoshone and Bonner Counties in Idaho because investigators believe the suspect may be driving west through northern Idaho.

Very little descriptive information has been provided about Tyson, but he’s believed to be with Lanetta Kay Mellstead, a 43-year-old woman with brown hair, green eyes. She’s described as about 5’5″ and 140 pounds.

Police say Mellstead is the child’s non-custodial mother. It’s believed she and the child’s incapacitated custodial father abducted Tyran. According to investigators, Mellstead abuses drugs, and is considered a direct threat to life of the child.

The suspect’s vehicle is being described as a 1996 black Ford Explorer with license plate # 540676B. A cell phone ping last placed the suspect in western Montana or Idaho. Investigators believe the group may be driving west through northern Idaho.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of this child, please contact the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office at (406) 822-3555 or 911 immediately.
