Two days after a woman met a man in a Boise homeless shelter, he proposed to her. One day after that, she said in court this week, he attacked her and abandoned her in the foothills above the city.
That alleged attack resulted in the arrest and charging of four people, who police and prosecutors say drove the woman, Sarita Morgan, to the foothills where they beat her and stabbed her with a kitchen knife and a broken bottle.
The Idaho Press reports, Cody Baker, Justice Bowie and Kevin Ivey have all pleaded guilty to aggravated battery charges – and are set to be sentenced soon.
The fourth person, Brianna Brown, is the only defendant who has yet to take a plea deal. She’s charged with aiding and abetting an aggravated battery, and her trial began Tuesday afternoon.
Prosecutors believe Brown played a supportive role in the battery and is charged with aiding and abetting an aggravated battery. In Idaho, that crime is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
