Dr. David Pate, president and CEO of St. Luke’s Health System, will retire at the end of January, and will be replaced by current Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Chris Roth.

Pate, who will be 63 when he retires, has held the top job at St. Luke’s for the past decade; it’s the state’s largest private employer.

The Idaho Press reports, Pate and Roth will work together for the next three months during the transition.

Roth has been with St. Luke’s since 2007. He previously held executive and leadership positions at hospital and health care systems in Seattle and New Orleans.
