Downtown Boise holiday tree lighting postponed

The downtown Boise holiday tree lighting at the Grove Plaza has been postponed.

The lighting was set for Friday evening, but the 45-foot tree fell over on Thanksgiving night. No one knows how the tree fell yet, but it has caused enough damage to make the tree unsafe.

CBS 2 News reports, an announcement will come early next week regarding the rescheduled event.

There is still a full schedule of fun things to do in downtown Boise Friday night.

The 36th Annual St. Alphonsus Festival of Trees continues to glitter and glow within Boise Centre through Sunday, December 1; Idaho Steelheads are on the ice at 7:10 p.m. taking on Rapid City Rush; Grab a warm bowl of soup at Empty Bowls today through 1:30 p.m. in benefit of The Idaho Foodbank.
