Today in country music history:

2011 - Monday Night Football pulled Hank Williams Jr.'s long-running intro "Are You Ready for Some Football?" over remarks Williams made about President Barack Obama.

2001 - Keith Urban went home to Australia to accept a special Aria Award, which is similar to a Grammy. Urban received the Outstanding Achievement Award in recognition of his success in America.

1945 - Ten-year-old Elvis Presley made his first-ever public appearance. It was a talent contest at the Mississippi, Alabama Dairy Show and Elvis sang "Old Shep." The future King came in second place.
