Cam Recalls Magical Moment With Music Idol Eric Church

Cam was able to cross another item off of her bucket list on Aug. 10. The “Burning House” singer was invited by Eric Church to open up one of his select shows at Denver’s Red Rocks amphitheater.

Things only got better for Cam from there as Eric asked Cam to join him onstage for a performance of “Like Jesus Does” at the end of his show.

“I’ve belted out his songs in my car for the past four years, and his album Chief hasn’t left the car since it came out,” Cam recalls. “So to find myself actually harmonizing with Eric onstage and not in my car, the two of us sharing a spotlight, surrounded by the unreal vibe of Red Rocks, that’s a memory I’ll carry with me forever.”

After Eric introduced her as his “favorite artist that’s out right now,” Cam proceeded to walk out wearing yellow aviator sunglasses—just like Eric’s but with her signature yellow color—and a yellow leather motorcycle jacket with bedazzled embellishments to match Eric’s. They do say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

“Of all the current country music artists who have influenced me, Eric Church’s music is at the forefront,” Cam said in a statement. “I would reach out to co-writers because they wrote songs with him, compare my mixes with his and even pick the songs on my album based on the flow of his Chief album.

“Not to be corny,” Cam adds about her Red Rocks experience, “but, this performance and the encouragement that Eric and his band gave me that night is a real validation of the spirit. They don’t compliment everyone you know? Definitely gave me the confidence to continue being myself. God bless Eric f***ing Church!”

And we’ll leave it at that. Watch the performance here:
