Bogus Basin begins snow making operations

The cold weather does have some benefits…

Bogus Basin announced Monday it started snowmaking over the weekend for the first time with its new system.

The Idaho Press reports, twenty-four automated fan guns were blowing snow onto the Upper and Lower Ridge off the Deerpoint Chairlift.

Bogus Basin is planning to open Dec. 7th for the 2019-20 winter season, though the date could be moved up if a combination of man-made and natural snow allows.

The water for snowmaking comes from a retention pond that was built in 2018. This year is the first time the pond has been full at the start of the season.
