State Board of Education Approves Coach Avalos Contract

 

The State Board of Education made a big move on Monday – approving the contract of the State’s highest paid employee. Boise State’s head football coach, Andy Avelos.

The 1.4 million dollar annual starting contract was approved during Monday’s meeting.

The contract lasts five years. Avalos is eligible for an annual raise of $75,000, which could take his pay to $1.7 million by 2026.

Comparatively speaking, former coach Bryan Harsin left for Auburn where he is now set to make 5.2 million per yer, and has a 6 year contract.

The board also approved a $410,000 annual base salary for new Boise State Athletic Director Jeramiah Dickey.
