Nampa School Board OKs removal of 24 ‘challenged books’

Several popular books will no longer be available in Nampa.

The Nampa School Board has approved the removal of two dozen books across district library shelves.

The board voted Monday 3-2 to remove what it calls “challenged books” such as Kite Runner, Thirteen Reasons Why, and The Handmaid’s Tale.

The two board members who voted against the motion said they were OK with the books being removed from the shelves, however, they were not OK with them being banned from the shelves “forever,” which was how the motion was introduced.
