Ada County election audit conducted

Ada County November 8th general election results were successfully verified in an audit conducted on Monday by the Idaho Secretary of State’s Office.

Ada County was one of eight counties across the state of Idaho included in the post-election audit.

CBS2 reports all ballots cast for the Idaho Constitutional Amendment in Ada County precincts 1411, 1415, and 1918, as well as batches of absentee ballots and Early Voting ballots, were hand-counted by a team that consisted of Secretary of State’s office staff and representatives from the Democratic and Republican parties.

Of the 1,754 Election Day ballots audited, the machine tabulated one ballot as having selected more than one choice on the Amendment question (considered an overvote).

The team of auditors ruled the ballot cast as a “no” vote, thus changing the results reported on Election Day by one vote from an overvote to a “no” vote.

Ada County Clerk Phil McGrane said these audits demonstrate that the process works as intended.
