In the new docuseries, The Judd Family: Truth Be Told, Ashley Judd opened up about what occurred during the final moments of her mom Naomi Judd‘s life. Ashley recounted receiving a distressing text of “pls help” from her mother on the morning of her death, leading her to rush to Naomi’s side where she found her struggling and expressing that she “didn’t want to be here anymore.” Despite attempting to comfort Naomi, Ashley soon discovered that her mother “had harmed herself.” Ashley spent those last moments holding her mother and reassuring her. “The first thing I said to her was, ‘It’s okay, it’s okay. I’ve seen how much you’ve been suffering.’ I told her how much I loved her, and it’s okay to go,” Ashley recalled. “When she died, my most earnest wish was to make sure that she was relieved and absolved of her guilt and her shame.” The Judd Family: Truth Be Told, directed by Alexandra Dean, aired on Lifetime on May 10 and 11.
