The Sheep Fire reached 113,000 acres, but Idaho National Laboratory facilities will go back to normal operations today (Thursday).

The fire burning on the Idaho National Laboratory site in southeastern Idaho exploded in size Tuesday, growing to 90,000 acres in less than 24 hours.

INL and Bureau of Land Management fire crews have made significant progress towards containing the fire.

The Sheep Fire curtailed most operations at the state’s nuclear research facility again Wednesday.

CBS 2 News reports, the fire no longer poses a threat to key INL research facilities.
