Canyon Co. Sheriff: Standoff ended Peacefully Thanks to Professional Law Enforcement

Caldwell (670 KBOI) – Canyon County Sheriff Kieran Donahue says his deputies maintained their cool and handled Wednesday’s standoff at a concrete plant on Simplot Boulevard professionally.

Employees at Forterra Structural Precast told deputies that Jens Davis had com to work with a pistol, and acting strangely.

Donahue told reporters at a press conference the building was evacuated about 8:30, and Davis holed up in a Quonset hut…that’s when a day-long standoff began, during which he fired several times through the walls of the hut.

“Negotiators continued to work with him, and failed.  So we were able to utilize some non-lethal techniques — a bean bag, and what they call ‘soft bullet’, or a rubberized bullet,” said Donahue.  “Ultimately those techniques helped the individual realize he needs to give this up.”

Davis was examined at a hospital, then booked into the Canyon County Jail. He’s charged with felony Aggravated Battery on Law Enforcement, and Grand Theft for having a stolen firearm.
