Grand opening of Gold Nugget CBD in Meridian draws a crowd

The grand opening for Gold Nugget CBD — Idaho’s first standalone CBD store — was anything but quiet Saturday.

The store opened its Meridian location — 1330 E. Fairview Ave., near North Locust Grove Road — just days after closing its Boise Towne Square kiosk. The kiosk was open for about a week and a half before staff decided it was time for a change.

The store sells products made with CBD oil — a substance extracted from cannabis plants such as marijuana and hemp. The oil has medical benefits, and customers have used it to treat inflammation for arthritis, as well as symptoms of anxiety.

Any substance containing any amount of the chemical is illegal in Idaho, so all of Golden Nugget’s Idaho merchandise is THC-free, Long said.

In the future, the owners tell the Idaho Press, Gold Nugget CBD plans to open another location in Boise and maybe Nampa. Those plans aren’t solidified yet.
