Icy roads cause traffic problems along Interstate-84 in Elmore County

Eastbound traffic along Interstate-84 was backed up for several miles along Interstate-84 in Elmore County earlier Tuesday due to multiple crashes.

Idaho State Police and Elmore County Sheriff’s deputies worked several crashes between Mountain Home and Glenns Ferry.

The initial crash happened on the interstate near Bannock Avenue, about a mile west of Glenns Ferry.

CBS 2 News reports, Eastbound traffic was backed up for about 10 miles.

ITD said Tuesday that it had five plow trucks in the area but getting to Elmore County had been difficult due to traffic.

A foreman for ITD who’s worked in the area for more than 25 years, says he’s never seen snow like this so early in the season.
